[That's Cloud Cult you're looking at, hangin' out in the Knitting Factory bar after a stunning set at last night's Movable Hype 7.0. Great job with the show Jen! More italics: This post benefitted greatly from the critical analysis of Wes, a friend and guitarist for The Undisputed Heavyweights. That is, now the post is based on fact, and not my made up world of concert schedules.]
This Thursday, Filter is throwin' themselves a party y'all, and they want you to come hang out with them and The Duke Spirit. For those that aren't familiar, this British quintet sounds something like Velvet Underground, if VU were fronted by PJ Harvey. Bombastic, bluesy, tom-heavy bashing with a slinky, sexy attitude. Tons of fun. The party will be at Skylight Studios (275 Hudson St.) from 8pm-1am. Also featuring a headlining set from The Walkmen. More details and RSVP here.
MP3 Masala: The Duke Spirit - "Cuts Across Land"
For Friday, I suggest you make your way down to Arelene's Grocery for a set of Cloud Cult, who'll be sharing the bill with local boys The Undisputed Heavyweights. Cloud Cult played Movable Hype last night. They were remarkable. (Brooklyn Vegan enjoyed, naturally, as did Ryspace. Gothamist has a great recap, and I'll have Land of Talk & Cloud Cult to pics later).
MP3 Masala: Cloud Cult - "Outside of Your Skin"
Hear more Cloud Cult at their MySpace, and take a listen to The Undisputed Heavyweights at theirs.

Actually, the choice is much easier because Cloud Cult plays Arlene's on friday, not Thursday :)
