Would you believe that this is Kevin Drew and John Crossingham from Broken Social Scene? And not two amorphous blobs of orange and green? Well, believe it. Tag Team Media celebrated their Fifth Anniversary bash at The Hook in Red Hook, Brooklyn with that indie rock band from Canada (you know, that one). They seriously killed, and reminded me how shitty most of what actually passes for indie rock is these days. A few bullet points for your perusal:
- Present members included: Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning (duh), John Crossingham, Amy Millan, and Andrew Whiteman.
- Andrew Kenny of American Analog Set joined for a few tunes at the end, regailing the crowd with one of his gems.
- Songs played included "(7/4) Shoreline," "Fire Eye'd Boy" and "Cause=Time." Amy also played "Skinny Boy" from her upcoming solo debut Honey From the Tombs, which I've been hearing great things about.
- I forgot my camera battery.
- Scott didn't.
- Neither did Jen (Pics / Gothamist review).
I rushed back (as much as one can "rush back" from Red Hook -- ugh) because Land of Talk were supposed to have a slumber party in my apartment after their Mercury gig. They found another benefactor however, which is entirely unsurprising. If you see them live, you'll want to take them home with you too! Hear them on MySpace, or see them tonight at Vegan's thing at the Syrup Room.

so your apartment did not turn into a canadian indie-band crash pad?
awwwwwsnap.
