O'Death - "Only Daughter" (MP3)
Opening for Nicole Atkins was Heartonastick-approved O'Death. If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times: The only thing missing from Appalachian bluegrass is violence, chains and a healthy dose of carnival shanties. From my sweet lips to the gods of Brooklyn music. O'Death are exactly that, all rattling chains, speedy folk jaunts and maniacal romps through an otherwise staid (to these ears) genre. I've never been caught by their MP3s, but couldn't deny the live set. And I'm not sure I'll ever take as much pleasure in listening to them outside of a concert hall (as I do, say, Man Man). But I did like what I saw, and I did have a Tennessee-toothy grin on my lips. I'll take it. More downloads at MySpace.
